MLK Day 2024 Read-In Child Registration

The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday and Day of Service promotes Dr. King's ideals of service, equality, and non-violence. We honor his legacy with our annual Read-In event on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 10am - 12pm.

This year, the event will take place at Winston Salem State University in the Donald J Reaves Center. In order to begin the program at 10am, please arrive by 9:45am. Parking is in Lot U, directly across from the Center. For pick-up, please remember to bring an ID with you - we will be checking IDs to make sure children go home with the approved person submitted during the registration process.

Children between kindergarten and 5th grade will be paired with a "Reading Buddy" who will lead them through various educational activities. At the event, each child will receive one age-appropriate book and one new civil rights-themed book.

The program is organized by Wake Forest University, HandsOn NWNC, and Winston-Salem State University. If you have any questions, please reach out to Cazandra Rebollar at rebollc@wfu.edu.
